Adrien Broner, a former champion in four weight divisions, has arrived and is ready to face Blair Cobbs. Both fighters successfully made weight for their upcoming welterweight clash, with Broner weighing in at a fit 146 pounds and Cobbs at a lean 145.6 pounds.
Their showdown will headline a Triller TV pay-per-view event this Friday at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
Broner (35-4-1, 24 KOs) returns to the ring after a year-long absence. The 34-year-old from Cincinnati signed with Hall of Fame promoter Don King last year, and his only fight under that deal was a points victory over Bill Hutchinson (20-3-4, 9 KOs) in Miami on June 10. Despite some doubts about his participation in this event, Broner has not only shown up but is also being guided by renowned trainer Calvin Ford.
Broner, who has held titles at 130, 135, 140, and 147 pounds, has been out of the elite mix since his January 2019 loss to Manny Pacquiao, an eight-division champion.
Blair Cobbs (16-1-1, 10 KOs), who also recently signed with Don King, secured this fight soon after joining the promoter. Cobbs, based in Las Vegas, last fought in August 2022, when he outpointed former 140-pound champion Maurice Hooker (28-3-3, 19 KOs), rebounding from a knockout defeat to Alexis ‘Lex’ Rocha (24-2, 16 KOs) in March 2022. This will be Cobbs' first fight since leaving Golden Boy Promotions.
The specific number of rounds for their fight wasn’t disclosed during the weigh-in or promotional materials. The bout is billed for the “WBC People’s Championship.”
Below are the weights for select undercard bouts:
-
